TrueNorth’s Acknowledges Three Dealers for Exceptional Commitment and Ingenuity

ORLANDO, FL —1 NOVEMBER 2016—TrueNorth Avionics “We are extremely pleased to announce our 2016 On Course Top Tier Dealers today,” said Mark van Berkel, TrueNorth CEO. “Gulfstream, West Star Aviation, and GDC Technics exemplify leadership and forward thinking, and have made significant contributions to business aviation in the past year.” The awards will be presented today at the National Business Aviation Association’s Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (NBAA BACE) in Orlando, FL, in booth 664 at approximately 15:10 local time.

“The 2016 award recipients represent the vision that we have set out for ourselves: making inflight communications better through innovation and dedication,” said van Berkel. “We have the privilege of working with some of the best people in the industry and it is important to us that we recognize these folks for their commitment to the business of business aviation.”

TrueNorth On Course Top Tier dealers are recognized based on a number of criteria including leadership, innovation and determination. This year’s recipients are no exception. Not presented every year, On Course awards are reserved to specifically acknowledge exceptional performance in the company’s dealer network.

West Star Aviation showed a high level of leadership developing and implementing TrueNorth’s Simphonē FANS-1/A+ Data Link Unit (DLU) and Simphonē Prelude cabin communications system. “They continue to demonstrate a strong commitment to enabling both cabin and flight deck communications,” said Steve Newell, TrueNorth’s chief commercial officer. “West Star is leading the charge when it comes to FANS-1/A implementations.”

Gulfstream’s decision to select the company’s DLU for retrofit on its fleet of GIV and GV aircraft extended the benefits of FANS-1/A to legacy aircraft with a streamlined upgrade. Explained van Berkel. “Gulfstream took an innovative approach with our DLU. The system can operate as the sole data link service on the aircraft without FANS 1/A+-compatible Inmarsat SATCOM installed, and as a backup data link solution on those with FANS-1/A+. This offers redundancy.”

GDC Technics extended the reach of TrueNorth’s Simphonē Mobile GSM solution around the world, demonstrating commitment and leadership. “In significant implementations this year, GDC Technics confirmed GSM as a key enabler for passengers who want to use their own mobile phones on board,” clarified Newell. “GDC is a forward-thinking organization and possesses a deep understanding of their customer’s needs.”
